Summer storm causes flooding in High Desert

Flash flood warnings for most of the day Saturday for the High Desert. Several roads took on water in the Twentynine Palms area in the afternoon.

Flooding closed Adobe Road at Amboy Road.

Valle Vista was also shut down at Utah Trail Road because of downed powerlines.

Drivers headed toTwentynine Palms Marine base will have to use alternate routes until the water subsides. Authorities recommend using Mesquite Springs to Indian Trail to Adobe to get on base.

Residents in the area told us even though the storm caused a few problems, they’re very thankful for the moisture..

The National Weather Service warns of isolated to scattered thunderstorms capable of producing erratic gusty winds. Brief periods of heavy rain are also expected through Saturday night.

Blowing dust is also a possibility Saturday night across the lower deserts.

The National Weather Service says this monsoon moisture will remain into the work week.
