The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department looking to hire this weekend

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department will hold a resource and career fair in Palm Desert this weekend.

Potential applicants will have an opportunity to speak with recruiters and current employees about job opportunities and attend presentations on Saturday at the sheriff’s Palm Desert station, beginning at 8 a.m.

Open positions include correctional deputy, correctional cook, accounting assistant and office assistant.

The sheriff’s department has openings in Palm Desert, Indio, Blythe and Riverside.

The department must fill 400 positions at the $274 million East County Detention Center, slated for completion in November 2016.

According to county officials, people recruited and trained early will likely be placed in other correctional positions until the jail is ready to be staffed.

The Board of Supervisors has authorized hiring.
