Palm Desert woman faces DUI and child endangerment charges
A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment after she drove her three juvenile passengers over the center median of Fred Waring Drive in Palm Desert and stopped in opposing traffic lanes, injuring one juvenile, a police sergeant said Monday.
The single-vehicle incident occurred at 5:18 p.m. Saturday on Fred Waring Drive and San Pasqual Avenue, said Sgt. Andy Martinez.
The driver was identified as 34-year-old Laura Blunt of Palm Desert, Martinez said.
Blunt “lost control of her vehicle, drove over the center median and came to rest in the opposite lanes of traffic,” he said.
“At the time of the collision, Blunt’s vehicle was occupied by three juvenile passengers, one of whom received minor injuries as a result of this collision,” Martinez said.
“At the conclusion of this investigation, alcohol was determined to have been a factor,” he said.
“All juveniles were released to their respective parents or Child Protective Services. Blunt was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment,” Martinez said.
