Building collapses from fire in Mecca

Cal Fire battled an early evening blaze at an abandoned structure in Mecca Friday.

According to Cal Fire they got a call just after 5:00 p.m. that a building was on fire. When they arrived flames were seen coming from an unoccupied 1400 square foot building on the 6800 block of Lincoln Avenue in Mecca. That structure later collapsed due to the fire.

Cal fire says there will be extensive mop up from the blaze. 6 palm trees also caught on fire. No word on the cause.
