D.A. Zellerbach investigation still ongoing

It’s been over three months since the Indio Police Department recommended felony charges against Riverside County District Attorney Paul Zellerbach. However — the Attorney General’s Office has not made any moves in the case and according to City News Service they have remained silent on the case.

Detectives from the Indio Police Department turned over the documents seeking felony charges of embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds, as well as misdemeanor charges of trespassing, vandalism and petty theft.

The Indio Police Department launched the investigation after cell phone video surfaced — allegedly showing Zellerbach taking down a Mike Hestrin campaign sign. Hestrin was challenging Zellerbach in the race for Riverside County District Attorney. Hestrin won that election and takes over the office in January.
