Students learn about military service, education

Students and parents asked military representatives about further education Saturday at La Quinta High School.

U.S. Military Academies spoke to high school and early-college students about test scores and the application process.

Representatives also eased the mind of some parents in the crowd, answering questions about deadlines.

Esteban Escamilla, a sophomore at Cal State San Marcos, said he was compelled to get an education and serve his country. “Both my parents had the same reaction against going into the military, but after they got some more information, I think they support me,” he said.

High school students also learned how to obtain a military academy nomination from Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D.
