Teen chasing skateboard hit by car
We’re learning more about a 14-year-old hit by a car in Coachella Friday night, police believe she had chased her skateboard into a street moments before.
It happened around 5:30 Friday night causing northbound lanes of Jackson between Avenue 48 and Avenue 50 to close for hours.
Police say the teenager was hit by a car in the street and then taken to the hospital with visible injuries. No word on her condition.
A broken skateboard remained in the road after the crash, while police investigated.
Officers tell News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 the driver of the car, a 57-year-old woman, did stop and is not believed to be at fault.
