Air show delights in Thermal

Aerobatic pilots and skydivers showcased their talents in the sky above the East Valley Saturday.

The 10th Annual Jacqueline Cochran air show in Thermal was a crowd-pleaser. Pilots whizzing by crowds of families lined up at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport, then spinning up into the air at incredible heights doing twists and turns that made even the most experienced viewers hold their breaths.

Kids of all ages, sat glued with their eyes to the deep blue sky watching professionals dive out of a plane and parachute in dramatic and patriotic fashion safely to the runway.

“I want to see a bunch of planes flying, do loops. I think it’s pretty cool because I’ve seen it on TV and it’s not the same when you see it here,” said 10-year-old Cesar Chi.

Besides the the air show, vintage, military and civilian aircraft was on display for people to take pictures of, even explore up close.

The event draws about 40-thousand people from all over Southern California.

Many of the planes on display can be seen year round at the Palm Springs Air Museum.
