Lions Club Shamrock 5K could slow traffic in Palm Springs

The Palm Springs Lions Club will hold its 5K Shamrock Run/Walk on Saturday, March 7. The event begins at 8 a.m. on Belardo Road in front of the American Legion, located at 400 N. Belardo Road.

Organizers said runners and walkers will head north on Belardo Road with the 5K course going through the Old Las Palmas and Vista Las Palmas neighborhoods.

Belardo Road will be partially closed between Alejo Road and Amado Road from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. to accommodate the start of the race, but the course will still be open to traffic.

Coordinators said runners and walkers have been instructed to stay to the right and watch out for traffic.

So traffic may be slow-moving downtown on Saturday morning, but drivers should definitely watch out for pedestrians as well.
