Crime suspect running from police impales arm on fence
Northern California authorities say a man fleeing from police officers serving a felony warrant had to be rescued by a fire crew after he impaled himself on a spiked fence.
Sacramento police spokesman Officer Justin Brown tells the Sacramento Bee police were trying to serve a warrant to the suspect on Tuesday when he fled, climbing over fences at an apartment complex. As he climbed over a spiked metal fence, his right arm was impaled.
Fire Department Spokesman Roberto Padilla says that firefighters cut a portion of the fence to free the man and took him, still impaled, to an area hospital for treatment.
Brown says the 51-year-old man had mild to moderate injuries to his arm.
Once he receives medical clearance, he will be booked into jail.
