Register for event similar to Shark Tank being held in Palm Desert

Eight local entrepreneurs will be given a chance to prepare their startup for the funding phase and brush up on their ideas and concepts at an event that is modeled off of the ABC hit TV series “Shark Tank”.

Officials with the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership recently opened registration for the event that will take place on April 22, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the UCR Palm Desert campus.

Although the event is modeled off of Shark Tank, organizers said participants will not actually be looking for funding for their concepts and ideas. The objective is to help innovators prepare for the next step toward success.

CVEP will select eight entrepreneurs to participate. Each will receive coaching to shape and build their narratives and prepare them to “Pitch the Angels” — a panel that will include two members from the investment group Tech Coast Angels and three top business personalities from the Coachella Valley.

Officials said the event is also a great opportunity to position the Coachella Valley iHub Small Business Development Center and other CVEP business development programs.
