Coachella police arrest burglar, still searching for another suspect
The Coachella Police Department arrested a suspected burglar Thursday night at a commercial strip mall after seeing another suspect run from the area with stolen property.
Officers said the burglary happened just before 9 p.m. in the 49900 block of Harrison Street in Coachella.
Someone reported that suspects in a gray vehicle had forced open a chain-link gate that was blocking the alleyway to a storage area behind the business.
When police arrived, they saw a suspect carrying stolen property from the rear storage area of the business. The suspect fled the scene on foot and police couldn’t find the individual after extensively searching the area.
But, officers said they did arrest 47-year-old Coachella resident Salvador Navarro at the scene. Evidence and burglary tools were located and recovered at the business as well.
Navarro was booked at the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
The investigation is ongoing and police are still searching for suspect who ran from the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call the Coachella Police Department at 760-863-8990.
