Coachella noise complaints being investigated by city of Indio

According to the City of Indio, partiers were kicking off Coachella a night early. Early Friday morning they fielded several calls from residents wondering why loud music was blasting past midnight.

According to Jim Curtis, spokesman for the city of Indio, he fielded many calls overnight on the city’s Coachella complaint line from residents complaining about the noise playing into the morning hours.

“The music was coming from the campgrounds,” says Curtis, “not the stages.”

Curtis said that according to the regulations, campers are allowed to play music until 1:30 a.m. But Curtis admits that the music blasting was “way too loud,” and apparently so did several residents.

Curtis says he is working with Goldenvoice, the promoters of the weekend events, to fix the situation. If you have a noise complaint or any other complaint about Coachella, Curtis says to call the hotline 760-541-7800.
