New Dairy Queen breaks ground in Cathedral City

Crews broke ground at the site of a new Dairy Queen Grill & Chill restaurant in Cathedral City Monday morning.

The new restaurant will be located at Date Palm Drive and I-10.

According to a release, the multimillion dollar investment will bring the first Dairy Queen Grille & Chill to the Coachella Valley with a new menu lineup and all of Dairy Queen’s longtime favorites.

Grille & Chill stores are larger than older-style locations and feature a completely new store design, according to Wikipedia. In most cases, they offer an expanded menu including breakfast, GrillBurgers, and grilled sandwiches, as well as limited table service customers still place orders at the counter).

“Located next to our brand new AM-PM, Chelo’s Restaurant and car wash in Cathedral City, the new Dairy Queen Grill & Chill will be opening for business in the summer of 2015,” said Chandi Group USA President and CEO Nachhattar S. Chandi.

Chandi also said Subway will be added to this same location in the near future as well.

Each location will generate approximately 150 temporary construction jobs and dozens of full and part-time positions in both new restaurants, officials said in the release.
