4:00 p.m. Update: Jesse Hughes’ brother Ian Hughes has just sent out an update via Facebook: ” Jesse is okay. I spoke to him about an hour ago the band is okay too. I hold out hope that as many people as possible make it out O.K. as well. As the situation is still developing I cannot say much else.”
A rock band from Palm Desert was playing at a Paris venue where terrorists armed with assault rifles walked into the concert hall and opened fire on a crowd of innocent music fans. Hundred of people were reportedly shot at the venue during the eruption of violence on Friday night.
The Eagles of Death Metal played a show at the Bataclan in Paris, France. The band was formed in 1998 by Palm Desert residents Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme, who are members of the band.
Fortunately, Josh Homme wasn’t playing on this tour.
According to a relative speaking on behalf of the brother of Jesse Hughes, Jesse is okay and he was safe at a Paris police station following the shooting. Other members of the band were unaccounted for in the aftermath, but later were confirmed to have made it out of the concert hall safely.
Jesse told his brother that they were on stage when the gunmen entered the concert hall through multiple doors. Jesse was able to escape through a backstage door.
