Flames burn Yucca Valley assisted living home

In Yucca Valley, San Bernardino County firefighters quickly knocked down flames at an assisted living home Sunday morning.

Fire officials said it started around 8:30 a.m. on the 55000 block of Sante Fe Trail.
When crews arrived on scene, people were already evacuating the 85 bedroom, two story residence as smoke came from a second-floor unit.

When firefighters went inside they quickly put out the fire in the attic and bathroom of the unit.

An employee of the living facility walked by the room and noticed smoke and hit the fire alarm.

Fire crews stayed on scene for about three hours and said the fire may have sparked from a bathroom fan, but the cause is still under investigation.
