High surf along California coast to subside
High surf continues along the California coast but is expected to subside through the day.
Warnings are in effect Friday along the coasts of San Diego and Orange counties, where the large west-northwest swell will produce occasional sets of 10 feet to 12 feet on favored west-facing beaches.
The National Weather Service says swimming conditions are very dangerous and surf of such magnitude is capable of damaging coastal structures and causing beach erosion.
To the north, warnings have been replaced with advisories from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay Area.
