Locals walk for 24 hours to fight cancer
Cancer survivors and supporters hit the track at Cathedral City High School for this year’s Relay for Life.
As the only 24-hour relay left in the valley, these walkers are raising awareness for a worthy cause.
Teams take turns walking, running or dancing around the track, all raising money for the American Cancer Society.
Some members of the News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 news team showed their support.
Our own Laura Yanez helped organize the event.
Survivors said the best thing about relay is that it brings awareness.
“It is awesome for any survivor to be here and to show the world, yes, if you can catch these cancers early enough you stand a much better chance of surviving. So get your tests done, take care of yourself and enjoy yourself,” said breast cancer survivor Susan Heggie
The event started at 9 a.m. Saturday and continues till 9 a.m. Sunday.
