Border Patrol seizes over 23 lbs. of meth

A man from the United States is facing charges of attempted drug smuggling after Border Patrol agents found nearly 24 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in his car at the Highway 86 checkpoint on Tuesday.

Agents said the 25-year-old man’s Honda was searched at a secondary inspection and authorities discovered packages of methamphetamine hidden in the car’s floor panels.

The meth weighed 23.78 pounds and is estimated to be worth $214,020 on the street, according to the Border Patrol’s release.

The Drug Enforcement Agency took the man into custody for further investigation.
