Palm Springs Village Fest celebrates 25th anniversary on St. Patrick’s Day

The 25th anniversary of the weekly Palm Springs VillageFest will be celebrated Thursday with some St. Patrick’s Day flavor.

The festivities begin at 6 p.m., when attendees will start filling the streets for a live performance of fusion rock bagpipers, guitarists, keyboardists and drummers on the main VillageFest stage at the corner of Tahquitz Canyon Way and Palm Canyon Drive.

The VillageFest’s 25-year run and the more than 80 downtown businesses in operation during its existence will be honored by members of the city of Palm Springs and the VillageFest board. Free birthday cupcakes will be passed out to the crowd at 7 p.m.

The headline event, which will begin at 8:30 p.m., is a “Shamrock ‘n’ Roll” concert featuring the Scottish band Red Hot Chili Pipers at the corner of Indian Canyon Drive and East Andreas Road.

Concert tickets for attendees 21 years or older are $15.
