View final local California Primary Election results
The Riverside County Registrar of Voter’s Office has been busy tabulating votes for the California Primary Election. The polls closed at 8 p.m. but there were still Riverside County residents waiting in the lobby to cast their votes at that time.
While results may still be coming in to our newsroom throughout the early morning, the presumptive nominees have been decided.
US Representative 36th District: 43/306 precincts reporting 13.73%
(R) Jeff Stone – 28,809 votes 33.3%
Stephan “Steven” Wolkowicz – 8,654 votes 10.0%
(D) Raul Ruiz – 48,924 votes 56.6%
Rep. Raul Ruiz, D-Palm Desert, will square off with Sen. Jeff Stone, R-Temecula, in a November runoff in the 36th congressional district, according to returns from the June, 7 Primary Election.
Jeff Stone stated the following regarding Tuesday night’s primary election results: “I am honored to be voted as the nominee for the 36th Congressional District. Our district deserves real leadership not broken promises. There is so much at stake and the difference between Ruiz and myself are crystal clear. We must make sure Iran does not receive Nuclear Weapons, that our Veterans receive the care they deserve and we protect citizens from terrorist attacks on our homeland and around the world. A strong America is a safe America.”
In response to the primary results from California’s 36th District, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) released the following statement:
“Voters in California’s 36th district have a clear choice this fall between Dr. Raul Ruiz’s record of fighting for working families, and Jeff Stone’s Republican Party of Trump. We are confident that voters will reject Stone and Donald Trump’s reckless agenda on Election Day,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC.
State Assembly 42nd District: 21/158 precincts reporting 13.29%
Jeff Hewitt – 2,220 votes 5.91%
Greg Rodriguez – 27,993 votes 40.8%
Chad Mayes – 35,597 votes 51.9%
Assemblyman Chad Mayes, R-Yucca Valley, will square off in November against Democrat Greg Rodriguez in his bid for reelection, with the pair easily outdistancing a third opponent for the right to advance in the race.
State Assembly 56th District:
Eduardo Garcia (unopposed)
US Senator: 2,545 out of 22,359 precincts reporting
(D) Kamala D. Harris 2,045,461 votes, 40.4%
(D) Loretta L. Sanchez 939,625 votes, 18.5%
Attorney General Kamala Harris and Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove, will square off in November for the right to succeed the retiring Barbara Boxer in the U.S. Senate.
Donald Trump has won the Republican presidential primary in California, completing an expected sweep of the five elections on the final night of the GOP primary campaign.
Results from the Democratic California Primary are still being counted:
1,475 of 22,359 precincts – 7 percent
Hillary Clinton, 1,940,580 – 55.8%
Bernie Sanders, 1,502,043 – 43.2 %
