Hazmat call turns out to be no big deal at DHS hotel

Cal Fire and a hazmat team was called to a Desert Hot Springs hotel Wednesday afternoon to investigate after someone in the laundry room complained that they may have been burned from some substance in a washing machine.

But, as our crew found out at the scene, there was really nothing to investigate. The person apparently thought they were being burned, but there were no peculiar substances in the washing machine, according to officials.

The call came in from the Waldorf Hotel, located at 1190 Mesquite Avenue, at about 12:15 p.m.

The laundry room area was evacuated during the investigation, but the hotel is back to business as usual.
