Lost 4th of July dogs being put up for adoption
The County Department of Animal Services announced Wednesday that it will start putting up for adoption nearly five dozen dogs that were brought to shelters after the July 4 holiday but went unclaimed.
Dogs often flee from their yards when they hear fireworks noise, which often cause them to panic.
In all, 156 runaway canines were brought to the county’s three shelters in the few days after Independence Day festivities and most were claimed. Animal Services employees contacted the owners of pets with microchips.
Photos of the 57 remaining dogs are on the County’s adoption web page.
“It’s unfortunate that these animals haven’t been claimed,” said county Animal Services Director Dawn Danielson. “We’re going to focus now on getting these dogs into new homes.”
