Man pleads guilty in roommate’s stabbing
A desert hot springs man is facing 13 years in state prison after he pleaded guilty to stabbing his roommate. 21-year old Javier Velasquez waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday and entered his plea to the attempted murder charge with sentence enhancements for using a weapon and inflicting great bodily injury.
His roommate told police Velasquez stabbed him following an argument at their home in the 13700 block of Sarita Drive, back in March.
Velasquez took-off before police arrived and was arrested 3 days later — less than a half mile away.
