Palm Springs Aerial Tramway set for maintenance
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is set to be closed for its annual 3-week maintenance period on Monday, September 12.
Workers have an ambitious list of projects to complete before it’s tentative reopening date on Saturday, October 1 at 8:00 a.m.
“This year’s shut-down will provide an opportunity to replace bearings on numerous Tram systems, shorten a haul rope and comprehensive mechanical testing,” said Tramway Vice President of Maintenance Nick Clesceri.
Clesceri said normal tramway maintenance tasks will also be completed during the annual shutdown period.
Nancy Nichols, the tramway’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing, said they “regret the inconvenience our annual closure causes.”
But she added the closure allows workers to complete projects they cannot do when the tramway is open to the public.
The tram normally operates seven-days-a-week, year-round.
