Palm Springs Dog Park Re-opens, renovations paid for by Measure J
Four legged friends and their owners paraded in Palm Springs’ renovated, state-of-the-art dog park Sunday afternoon. The dog park was closed for nearly four months and locals say they’re happy to have it back. “We missed it while it was being renovated but they did an amazing job and the dogs are so happy to be here,” said Anthony Gordon, a Palm Springs resident. The project was funded by Measure-J, a 1-percent tax increase for local sales, effective back in April, 2012. “It’s incredible living in a city where you vote for something and you do see the results, so it’s great,” Gordon said. And the renovated dog park isn’t the only Measure-J funded project debuting in Palm Springs. “Roads (and) the downtown park, are two of the bigger projects,” said Geoff Kors, Palm Springs City Councilman. “Obviously helping the infrastructure for downtown. We actually have roads connecting. Those are the really big ticket items that Measure-J has funded but there are so many more projects getting done and it’s great to see the support of residence who voted for Measure-J.”
