Big rig overturns on I-10 in Indio
UPDATE 7:45 a.m. Police have cleared the wreck and the freeway was starting to move again at normal speeds. ——- Crews were working to upright a big rig truck that overturned Friday morning on the I-10 westbound in Indio just west of the Monroe Street exit. The large semi was hauling 1900 pounds of glass. No injuries were reported, according to the California Highway Patrol. But officers closed down the freeway’s two slow lanes to keep traffic away from the big truck as crews worked to upright and remove it. Traffic was squeezing by in the freeway’s fast lane, and was backed up more than two miles in the westbound direction back past Monroe Street and Jackson Street. Eastbound freeway traffic was not impacted.
Motorists can detour using the Monroe or Jackson exits or Golf Center Parkway, then taking Avenue 42 just north of the freeway west to Washington Street where you can get back on..
