DHS police identify man who barricaded himself in home
Desert Hot Springs police have identified the man who was arrested for multiple felonies after barricading himself inside a home during a domestic violence report Thursday afternoon.
Danilo Flores was arrested after a two-hour standoff at a home in the 66200 block of Cahuilla Avenue, near Cactus Drive. Officers responded to the residence at about 1:30 p.m. after a victim arrived to the police station to report the case of domestic violence, according to authorities.
Officers said Flores was a parolee at large.
He and another man identified as Andrew Martinez were both taken into custody at about 4:30 p.m. after officers sent a canine into the home. Police found multiple weapons, ammunition and stolen property — including a firearm — inside the residence.
The suspect suffered minor injuries during the incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Both men were booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
Officers siad Flores is facing felony charges for violating his parole, making terrorizing threats, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), domestic violence, being a felon in possession of ammunition, being a felon in possession of a firearm, false imprisonment and violence, obstructing/resisting a peace officer, and possession of stolen property.
Martinez was booked for grand theft of a vehicle, felon in possession of ammunition, violation of formal probation, and possession of stolen property, authorities said in the release.
Police blocked off Cactus Drive from Desert View to Buena Vista as they worked to detain the suspects. The road was back open soon after the suspects were arrested.
