La Quinta police investigate two armed robberies

Police were investigating an armed robbery at a Toda Moda store in La Quinta Tuesday evening, an hour before a nearby business also saw an attempted armed robbery.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Department said the Toda Moda robbery happened at 6:42 p.m. Thursday along the 79800 block of Highway 111.

They say a suspect entered the business armed with a gun demanding money.

Police did not say how much money the man got away with.

There were no injuries, the suspect escaped.

Earlier, at around 5:30 p.m., a suspect entered another business wearing a ski mask and attempted to rob clerks there.

That incident was on the 78530 block of Highway 111.

The suspect left with nothing.

Police were looking for the suspect.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Department did not name the business.

Both cases were under investigation, but police don’t believe they were related.
