Man behind bars accused of kidnapping woman

A man is in police custody after allegedly kidnapping and injuring a woman. Riverside County sheriff’s deputies said while on patrol they saw a woman waiving her arms and screaming for help.

It happened just before 8 a.m. Saturday morning near the intersection of Jackson Street and and Avenue 52. Deputies said the woman was a passenger of an SUV at the scene being driven by a man.

After conducting a stop, deputies arrested the driver of the SUV, 31-year-old Efrain Garcia of Coachella, on suspicion of kidnapping and domestic violence.

The victim had minor injuries and at this time the investigation is ongoing.
