Habitat for Humanity puts the finishing touches on two homes for Veterans
Two homes are almost ready to welcome their new occupants, thanks to Habitat for Humanity.
Volunteers from the Riverside County Probation Department are working to finish the homes so their new owners can move in. They spent the morning digging moats for irrigation systems and deep-cleaning each home.
“Well we did some landscaping in the front, we did the walls, some interior clean up, removing old paper, and in the back we helped the landscapers put up the vines,” said senior probation officer Eric Kassick.
Organizers showed off one of the homes specifically designed for a disabled veteran.
“We went through a family selection committee and a we have a couple of families that would be perfect for these homes. Veterans serving our country, and they have families and they’re in need of a good home,” said Dave Thornton with Habitat for Humanity.
The homes should be finished soon, and then the families can move in within the next couple of months.
