Wedding expert shares 2017 wedding trends
It’s a new year, which means a new set of wedding trends. The National Association of Catering and Events forecasts the different wedding trends year after year. We spoke with wedding expert Gregory Goodman to break down all the trends.
Goodman is the owner of My Little Flower Shop and My Little Bridal Boutique and My Little Fun Factory. He is also the creator of Wedding Warriors, Riverside County’s networking group for wedding, special event, and service industry professionals. The first trend he’s breaking down: flowers.
“More organic. Brides love organic succulents, air plants. More branches, foliage that type of thing,” Goodman said.
Bouquets are getting bigger and the flower choices are getting more exotic.
“Large foliage leafs, very tropical, big palm leafs is a huge look. It’s inexpensive and it gives you a great show,” Goodman said.
The color schemes are moving more towards soft peaches, orange and corals. A big trend for 2017 is adding crystals to arrangements to give it that more earthy organic feel.
As for the star of the show, wedding dresses are getting more over the top.
“The whole princess thing is coming back, soft, flowing dress, lots of poof,” Goodman said.
Beading is on practically every dress. And colors are moving away from stark white and are more ivory and blush tones.
Goodman said he sees more couples opting for elopement.
“I’m seeing more elopements because Joshua Tree is right there and brides love going there. The pictures they get are incredible. We did three elopements last week,” Goodman said.
While trends come and go Goodman says the most important thing to remember is why you’re getting married in the first place, because love never goes out of style.
