Cathedral City celebrates 2nd annual Taste of Jalisco Festival
Cathedral City celebrated the second annual Taste of Jalisco Festival Saturday.
“And how it started was Mayor Pro-tem, Greg Perez, was looking to do a sister-city relationship and they put the two cities together [Tequila and Cathedral City] and we’ve been friends ever since,” said Cathedral City’s Communication Manager, Chris Parman.
On Saturday Tequila, Jalisco and Cathedral City formally rededicated their 20-year bond.
“It contributes to a better understanding and sends a message that we want to work together and that we are working together. It means a lot to us,” said Salomon Rosas, of the Mexican Consulate of San Bernardino and Riverside County.
CBS Local 2 and KESQ’s sister station, Noticias 15 Telemundo and La Poderosa emceed the event.
Jalisco natives and locals alike say this celebration added spice to their Saturday.
“It’s great to see the kids dancing. They’ll know where their heritage came from,” said one Valley Local.
“We hope to have this as a tradition, and as you can see from the turnout, it looks like everybody else is enjoying that too,” said Parman.
