Stores burglarized on El Paseo
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department say two stores at the Shops on El Paseo were burglarized early around 4:20 Saturday morning.
Officers were seen patrolling the area on Sunday.
While the sheriff’s department can’t confirm additional details, News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 obtained a memo sent out to merchants at The Gardens on El Paseo and El Paseo Villiage. The memo says surveillance video captured 12 people and four cars burglarizing Botegga Veneta and Gucci on El Paseo. Some shoppers say they’re shocked to see crime in the area. “That presumably was very well thought out and it’s always mind blowing to me to know that people like that exist,” said one shopper. Many people hope for stronger security. “Paseo is considered a very good shopping street, it may not be Worth Avenue, it may not be Fifth Avenue, it may not be Rodeo, but it’s trying to be, so you should have good security,” said another shopper. Riverside County Sheriff’s Department say the burglary is under investigation. Chartwell properties, which own the buildings burglarized, declined to make a statement in regards to this situation
