Man in hospital after Desert Hot Springs shooting

Desert Hot Springs Police are conducting a shooting investigation after a man was shot Saturday afternoon.

Police said an adult male was walking down Ocotillo Road when he was approached by a another man in a car.

That’s when the man in the car tried talking to the pedestrian. Police said the man in the car then pulled out a gun and shot the pedestrian several times, striking him once in the chest.

The pedestrian then walked to a nearby fast food restaurant for help while the suspect drove off.

Officers said the man suffered minor injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center.

Police weren’t able to locate any evidence of a shooting in the area where the victim claimed the shooting happened. They are still investigating the incident.

Residents said officers were in the neighborhood near Hacienda Avenue and Ocotillo Road, after hearing reports of shots fired in the general area.
