Police identify man killed by train in Cabazon

Authorities identified a Cabazon man who was struck and killed by a Union Pacific freight train Saturday in Cabazon.

A CAL FIRE/Riverside County fire spokesperson said firefighters responded to reports of a pedestrian hit by a train near Main Street and Broadway Street at 5:40 Saturday evening.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and located a man on the tracks.

The Riverside County Coroners Office said Angel Fuentes, 79, of Cabazon was pronounced dead at the scene within minutes.

Union Pacific Railroad currently shut down railway activity in the area of the accident. UPR did not respond to KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 requests for more information.
