Bermuda Dunes preschool holds annual ‘Snow Day’

When the forecast fails to create a winter wonderland, one Bermuda Dunes preschool steps in. Every year the Bermuda Dunes Learning Center trucks in a little over a ton of snow to give their students a chance to enjoy the fluffy white stuff right in the middle of the desert.

“The importance of it is they can touch and feel the cold and the wetness of it and how it melts,” says Gail Clark the Executive Director of the center. “We’ve done a lot of science this week and just having a really good time and understanding it.”

The bizarro oasis creation is a yearly tradition for the Bermuda Dunes Learning Center. The original location has been serving the Coachella Valley for over 24 years according to their website. Bermuda Dunes Learning Center has two sister locations as well, one in Indio and one in Palm Desert.

“Every day is a fun day here, but this is just a special, unique day,” Clark says. “I know the families really appreciate it. The parents really appreciate that we do this for their kids…and we have lot of them here today.”
