Casino releases response following discrimination incident

The transgender woman who claims she was harassed, handcuffed, and detained for using the women’s restroom at Fantasy Springs reaches an agreement with the casino.

Fantasy Springs Resort Casino now tells KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 in a statement:

“Fantasy Springs Resort Casino prides itself as a diverse place of business and as such, welcomes all members of the community regardless of race, culture, social status, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender to enjoy everything the resort has to offer. We would like to reinforce the fact that Fantasy Springs strives to create an atmosphere that is both fun and entertaining for ALL members of our community.”

In the email, the casino representative stated that the resort could not discuss the incident in question.

However, the casino did admit last week that there was an internal investigation ongoing regarding the woman’s complaint.

We first reported the story last week, Ella, the transgender woman, told KESQ and CBS Local 2’s Alexandra Pierce that the incident “made me feel subhuman it was just totally wrong.”

She also claimed that the handcuffs they placed on her were tightened too much, leaving marks on her wrist.

Ella says she was only released when a Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy said she did nothing wrong.

She tells us she’s reached an agreement with the casino but she’s not able to discuss the details.
