Paperwork still needs to turned in to remove tamarisk trees, city says

Update on plans to remove a row of tamarisk trees in Palm Springs that touched-off a controversy dating back decades ago.

The Palm Springs city council hasn’t received paperwork from all of the homeowners involved and there’s a deadline of April 30.

The city will only remove the trees on properties that have turned in the required documents

Some residents in the neighborhood believe the trees were planted in the 1950’s to block the view of a historically black neighborhood from golfers.

Others in the neighborhood also claimed the trees are a fire hazard, a health hazard, and are driving down the value of their homes because homeowners can’t see the mountains from their yards.
