Desert Hot Springs High School art students unveil 18ft-tall mural

Advanced art students at Desert Hot Springs High School unveiled their second mural Monday afternoon.

The 18-foot two-panel mural, depicting art and entertainment, was created by artist-in-residence John Aaron Hansen.

The mural was inspired by the work of Keith Haring.

Aor me that’s perfect, its got that freestyle fun flow. You know, a lot of times art can get real snobby with this and that, but it’s cool to have that 90s graffiti feel,” Hansen said.

“It’s great to have them participate in designing and drawing the mural because they feel invested and part of their school,” added DHSHS Principal George Bullis.

There are about a hundred murals done by students throughout the Palm Springs Unified School District.
