Antonio Villaraigosa, valley residents getting word out to vote in primary
Saturday, former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa visited the valley to make a push for the Governor’s seat with about two weeks until the California Primary location.
“I think every one of us needs to understand that you need to participate,” Villaraigosa said. “You need to vote in the Primary.”
He and other gubernatorial candidates including Gavin Newsom, John Chiang, Delaine Eastin, John Cox and Travis Allen rallying for support.
Friday, President Donald Trump tweeting his endorsement of Cox for the position.
“If you want John Cx in the runoff, then don’t vote, “If you want to make sure Donald Trump doesn’t influence this election, than I say vote.”
Palm Springs resident John Zaugg supports voting in primary elections.
“I do it religiously,” Zaugg said. “I think it’s helpful if you narrow that down, and the primary is the first step towards that.”
He and Cathedral City resident Byron Vargas believe in taking advantage of resources over the air and through the mail.
“I have kids myself, and I’m looking towards what’s coming towards their way,” Vargas said.
They and Villaraigosa hope to see a large turnout, and get out their message come June.
“We’ve got to address an economy that’s not working for too many people, a cost of living that’s making it almost impossible for people to buy a home, or rent an apartment,” Villaraigosa said. “I think people are looking for answers, and the best way to find that is to be informed.”
