Shadow Hills won’t be sneaking up on any teams in 2018
5-5, 6-4, and then 8-3 in season number three since joining the conference with the likes of Palm Desert, Palm Springs, and La Quinta. Now the bar has been set.
“High expectations so when you’re working towards those expectations you’re going to get better and hopefully we achieve them,” Ron Shipley said.
“Think we have a good shot at going all the way,” Jake Shipley said.
Not only did the Knights make a statement on the field a season ago but they did the same this off season. The hiring of Dan Armstrong with 23-seasons of experience as the head coach of La Quinta.
“Our kids are excited they love the attacking style of defense,” Shipley said.
“I feel like we’re more hyped and more of a team on defense. Going to be crazy this season to play against us,” Kevin Johnson said.
A dominating defensive player that is going to lead the attack. It is coach Shipley’s son Jake and as you can see the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
“He is bigger than me, ” Ron Shipley said.
“Always trying to make him proud of me and all that and try to be the best I can,” Jake Shipley said.
On offense they are going to rely heavily on the off season improvement of their junior signal caller Hunter Brooks. He has all the talent with both the arm and the legs and now it is just about cleaning up the mistakes.
“I was catching passes from him, they were in better spots. Didn’t have to try as much,” Johnson said.
“He has a year under his belt, expanding our offense a bit and giving him more opportunity to do different things,” Shipley said
The 2018 high school football previews will air up until the season starts, which is Friday, August 17th for some of our area teams.
