United Cerebral Palsy holds annual Christmas party for kids with special needs
United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire held its annual children’s holiday party for children with special needs at the La Quinta Resort and Club on Sunday.
Children with special needs such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Epilepsy and intellectual delay all had the opportunity to dance, take pictures with Santa, and enjoy Christmas treats with their families. Over 500 people attended the Christmas party.
“It really is a community family and the positive energy is palpable. I don’t see a disability. I see the ability that these kids have. And the joy they have opening a gift and just having fun with their friends and their family,” said Demitrious Sinor, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for United Cerebral Palsy.
This is the 20th year United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire has held the annual Christmas event, and parents say they look forward to it every year because it gives them and their kids a sense of community.
The organization also said they will have over 80 kids with special needs participating in this years Tour de Palm Springs bike race in February. They’re currently raising money for adaptive bicycles so all their kids can participate. For riders planning to register for the event anyway, consider using the code 19TRUCP to contribute to the charity. And to make a donation or to get involved with the upcoming event, click here.
