Charges dropped against Joshua Tree parents found living in a box-like shelter
Charges against Mona Kirk and Daniel Panico, have been dropped, according to court records from San Bernardino County.
At a court hearing on December 14, the judge dismissed all six counts of child abuse and neglect against Mona Kirk, 51, and Daniel Panico, 73.
On March 1, Kirk and Panico were found to be living with their three children four years in “approximately 20 feet long by 4 feet high by 10 feet wide” plywood box in Joshua Tree.
Supporters of the couple had argued that Kirk and Panico weren’t abusive to the kids, they were just met with a series of unfortunate circumstances.
Back in May, the District Attorney dropped the felony charges against Kirk and Panico and refiled new misdemeanor charges. The couple were also awarded full custody of all three of their kids
A close family friend tells News Channel 3 that “the parents have been reunited with their kids and are living in a new home together.”
