Driver tries to run over woman near motel

Police were looking for a suspect in a hit and run collision early Thursday morning off Washington Street.

Investigators say a man attempted to drive over a woman in front of a Motel 6 on the 78100 Varner Road at 2:30 a.m.

California Highway Patrol officers were the first to arrive on-scene.

The Riverside County Sheriffs Department says two men and two women were staying at the hotel at the time.

One woman left with a third man who was not involved with the group and later got involved in an argument.

Police say the two other men overheard the altercation and tried to break it up outside.

The third man then got into a car and allegedly drove toward the four people hitting the woman.

Police say she was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The attack remains under investigation and police are still searching for the suspect.
