Legacy of Cesar Chavez celebrated in Palm Springs

The legacy of labor and civil rights leader Cesar Chavez was celebrated Monday morning in Palm Springs.

Chavez’s son Paul was in attendance for a breakfast program designed to educate the community and ensure that his story continues to be told.

“You see that he actually suffered more defeats than victories yet each time did he would get up off the ground, dust himself off and return to the struggle. He would be the first to remind us that you only lose when you give up,” Paul said.

While Chavez’ actual birthday was on Sunday, today is the first time Palm Springs has specifically honored his life and work. City officials are looking forward to continuing recognition in the years to come.
