Valley kicks off Independence Day celebrations one day early

Two valley cities kicked off their Independence Day celebrations one day early.

Thousands were in awe of the firework spectacular at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio. It was an evening full of celebrations in the east valley, kicking off in Coachella first.

The city of Coachella hosted a celebration with plenty of fun activities, including games, carnival rides, live music, delicious food, and a fireworks show.

Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez said it’s their third annual Independence Day celebration.

“A lot of our residents are the embodiment of the American dream and so for us, it’s just a reminder that we need to be grateful for our freedoms,” Hernandez said.

Many attendees showed their American pride and were happy to be spending the holiday with family.

“I’m most excited about spending time with my family and getting to watch the firework show,” one attendee said.
