Traffic clears after I-10 collision involving two trucks
Traffic was back up to speed Thursday morning on Interstate 10 eastbound through Banning and Beaumont after a long night of travel delays.
Traffic had been backed up for more than five miles following a collision involving two big rig trucks. The traffic jam was worsened due to road construction projects also underway at the time.
As of 6:00 a.m. motorists were crawling through the area with bumper to bumper traffic reported from Sunset Avenue to east of Hargrave Street. Traffic was moving at full speed by 7:00 a.m.
A SigAlert was issued after two big rig semi trucks collided at 11:45 p.m., but the lanes were reopened at 1:38 a.m.
There was no immediate word on injuries.
The collision was along a stretch of road where construction crews have been closing the freeway's two inside lanes for the I-10 Tuneup. They've been replacing concrete and working on road improvements during the day and at night.
