Here’s how Palm Springs Convention Center plans to reopen when allowed
The Palm Springs Convention Center has rolled out a new safety video on how they plan to reopen once California goes into phase 4 of reopening.
“Although the building isn’t currently open, we wanted to make sure that they have the confidence that Palm Springs and the Palm Springs convention center is going to be a safe place for them to consider and hopefully and ultimately select for future years," said Rob Hampton.
General manager , Rob Hampton said his team wanted to be ahead of the game.
In the video, the director of conference services, Kristie Dore showed us the new modified room seating options.
“The back half of the room is set theatre style, 6 feet apart, addressing social distancing," said Dore. "The front part of the room is setup classroom style also 6 feet apart one chair per six foot table."
The video goes into further detail about banquet seating along with food and beverage changes made by their catering service. Plus, details of signage, hand sanitizing stations, sneeze shields, floor stickers, use of roped off area for flow control, and cleaning procedures.

According to the Palm Springs city manager , well over 50 % of city's revenue has been lost due tourism being closed.
The closure of the convention center alone has caused an estimated $29.5 million loss for our area.
“We have lost 16 groups that were going to be here." said Hampton. "Out of those groups, 25,000 attendees will not been coming through our doors.”
Jennifer Rosenblum is planning to hold an event here in July.
“I liked how they put different scenarios together," said Rosenblum. "A theatre style and different styles for the eating.”
She has downsized her plans, but has confidence all will work smoothly.
"I think they did an a plus job and I am definitely coming," Rosenblum.
As part of the new safety program, the Palm Springs Convention Center is implementing a "Palm Springs Health & Safety Promise."
It provides the most advanced hygienic safeguards to serve clients, guests, staff, teams, and all other visitors.
