Man shot overnight in Palm Desert, teen suspects arrested in Cathedral City
Two teenagers from Cathedral City were arrested in connection with a shooting that left one man in critical condition Tuesday morning in Palm Desert.
Deputies first responded to reports of shots fired on the 45300 block of Garden Square at around 2:53 a.m.
A man with a gunshot wound was found in the area of Cabrillo and Highway 111, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. He was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical but stable condition.
Authorities learned that the victim and a second person were followed by two suspects, an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old. The two suspects, both from Cathedral City, were known to the victims.
The agency said one person was struck multiple times and sustained a single gunshot wound to his face. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other victim, who was uninjured, had allegedly been stalked by the 18-year-old for several weeks before the assault.
Both suspects were taken into custody later that morning in the area of Aurora Vista and 33rd Avenue in Cathedral City.
Both suspects have been booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on multiple charges.
